What draws you to an online forum? what keeps you there?

Hello there...
Well, I'm drawn to forums that keep you interested beyond the homepage.I like good pics you can see,good chat and ideas...tons of ideas.I am inspired by seeing other peoples projects and love to make things. I like it all! I am part of other forums that usually go way off the deep end on bickering and being ugly,so as of late i am down to very few sites. I love that you can have your own opinions on them,but I just don't like how ugly people can be so I get on, get in, see what i want and leave.

I seem to be drawn to the smaller, more intimate sites. I like getting to know the people that are on the message board & posting in the gallery. Some of the larger sites tend to form "clicks" and it's hard to feel "welcome" when you come in. I also like challenges, on-line crops, contests... things that keep my creative juices flowing.

I'm drawn to a forum with friendly people. If someone recommends it to me I usually check it out. Often a contest will draw me in, but I won't stay becuase they people just are catty or not very supportive and commenting. I tend to leave if I just get ignored.

I agree with most of the you ladies. I'm more into the friendlier groups where you can ask a question and get a response that's not demeaning. I love being able to be inspired by the work of others in the forum as well as being the inspiration for others.

great responses, I think that all of our bases are covered here. I like a forum that has continued movement. I check several times a day and I want to see new post each time. I don't want to be bored with a forum. Thanks for your honest responses.

I think you all have covered what I look for when joining a forum, I have tried joining forums and some people won't or don't speak to you and they talk over you and I hate that.

I'm drawn to a forum by other scrappy friends...I'm usually following someone or checking out a pub call.

What keeps me at a forum...
* A group of friendly ladies that are active, supportive, and fun.
* The forum must be active...nothing like logging in, clicking on "view new posts", and there is only 5 or something...and you haven't been around for a couple of days..kwim?
* inspiration...a variety of inspiration...from artsy layouts to clean and simple.

I completely agree!! The ladies must be nice and welcoming too.

I would say one that is friendly, respectful and has great ideas and lots going on.. I don't like drama and love to have a fun place to chat and catch up on ideas and see what's going on.. feeling like part of a family on a forum means alot.
