How do others take you when you tell them that you scrapbook? or rather that you are obsessed with scrapbooking?

Most people give me a blank look. That "huh?" expression appears. Then I have to explain it. When I do. I tend to get excited and it scares people.

I live in such a small town most people that know me know 3 things about me... 1. I teach. 2. I scrapbook. 3. I love Josh Groban. LOL

Most of my coworkers tell me I should scrapbook for a living... maybe they're trying to tell me I shouldn't be teaching.

most people say " figures, you can do everything" it's funny to me. I really think if you try you can really do things you didn't know you could....so, i try to help all my friends and even strangers with anything I can. I am like a hub for craft information I notice. people send so and so to call me. I kinda like it cause I just love helping people be crafty.

they just don't get it and when I try to explain it they still don't get it

Some people get it, some people don't, and some...I think...are afraid. They hear the "scrap" word and start a whole litany of why they can't.

A few people get it.. luckily my hubby is one of them since he is artistic for his work...

Most people think I'm kinda obsessed and don't do anything else but scrap, I wish, but I still have life to get done

that's why I love online forums.. .everyone gets it..

Some people look at me like I have three heads coming from my neck because they have no idea what scrapbooking is. While others say oh that's nice that you have a hobby. LOL...little do they know that my 'hobby' is an obsession and that I've probably spent more money on scrap supplies then anything else in the past few years. Last year for Christmas I was in school full time so money was tight so I brought in a scrapbook that I had made my Secret Santa and everyone loved it. I ended up taking orders that day and earned almost $700 just from mini books, cookie sheet memo boards, and coaster books!

WOW, that's awesome!!

Well all my extended family knows and they don't get it at all. But my family and kids especially love it. That's why most of my friends are online because they ALL get it!

my family all knows what I do and loves that I do it - but they don't get the "obsession" part or the forum part - they can't figure what we all have to talk about! lol

My dad thinks I need my own website for selling cards. my mom always says "too bad you can't make money doing it since you spend so much doing it". I just tell them if I did it as a career it wouldn't be a hobby...an outlet...then I remind them I like not having a job! lol

Now people I meet if we get to talking and I say I'm on dt's and message boards they look at me like I started speaking Latin or something! hee hee

Most people I know are not surprised and are very supportive. But I am always amazed about how many people really do not have a clue about scrapping...really? Cause I live to scrap!
